Mental Health Pre-Trial Diversion Program
About The Program
The Mental Health Pre-Trial Diversion Program provides opportunities for individuals with serious mental health diagnosis or co-concurring disorder, who have been charged with a qualifying misdemeanor crime, to participate in a 12-month intensive mental health treatment program in lieu of sentencing. If the participant successfully completes the program, the original charge is dismissed.
Participants are required to attend mental health treatment programs, peer support groups, and meet with a CMHA staff person or advocate on a regular basis. To remain in the program, they must comply with their treatment plan, maintain regular contact with CMHA staff and/or their assigned Advocate, and not have an additional criminal charge.
