About The Program
Respond, Resolve, Refer
The Carroll County Crisis Response Team is the result of hard work and effort by a group of our local leaders, law enforcement, and first responders. The mobile crisis team will consist of a two-member team of co-responders (a law enforcement officer, who is also a certified paramedic, and a Licensed Professional Counselor) that will respond to psychiatric/mental health crisis calls in a specialized mobile unit.
The goal of the Carroll County Crisis Response Team is to de-escalate mental health crises on site with the use of the licensed clinician, to avoid any arrests and or hospital admissions. However, if required, the licensed clinician has the ability and credentials to sign a 1013 Order which requires an involuntary commitment for the individual to receive further mental health evaluations if they are a threat to themselves or others. The LEO/paramedic is part of the co-responding team for safety reasons and to be able to medically clear individuals that do need to be transported for inpatient, mental health treatment to avoid long wait times at the Emergency Department.
Co-Responders will also refer individuals to community mental health providers and other resources as needed. A CCCRT Case Manager offers follow-up services to clients, connecting individuals and families to local resources.
